Off to Zoo Town

We have season tickets to Unitversaity of Montana football. It's been a long time goal of Mr. Workin's to have tickets and after dragging my feet for several years we became season ticket holders. It has been fun, and a good way to spend some time with my hubby (who attends pretty much every game) and/or the family.
So, although I am barely recovered from the last vacation, we are off for a family adventure.
Wish us the best!

Hungover

I would say hungover is the best way to describe how I am feeling as I struggle with my re-immersion into "real life". It was easy to forget how little and needy my sweet babes are. They held it together so well, while their daddy and I were soaking in the sun.
However, I had to hit the ground running when we got home, and the kiddos and I could have used a day to snuggle and reacquaint ourselves to each other. They have been so whiny and demanding. Not what I wanted to deal with upon my return, but I have been told it is a healthy sign of attachment. I am the person they can totally be themselves with.
So after promising myself I would be a kinder, gentler mama upon my return, I jumped right back in to my old familiar ways.
Regardless of how shocking re-immersion has been, I love my job, and all the little people that make my world a brighter place.

Home Again...

It's nice to go, but also always nice to get home as well.
Mr. Workin' and I needed the time away. It was great to put our friendship first, and not have to talk about the adult parts of our life.
We ate great food, slept tons, got lots of sun, had good talks, and saw beautiful sites.
Vacation perfecto!

Lists

Every year about this time, I start letting my brain wonder around gift ideas I have for my upcoming shopping duties for Christmas.
For a couple of years, I sent out a huge survey about favorites, likes, and wants, to all me family. I only received one or two back. But, isn't it rather forward to send put a list of your own gift wants?
How do you handle gift giving in your family? Again, I haven't figured out which is more important giving to give, or giving someone something they want.
These are the things I continue to ponder.

35..Yep, I'm 35.

Here's my handful of things I have filed away in the "this much I know is true" box as of today.
~It’s okay to walk away from some interpersonal relationships- relationships can have an expiration date. This is especially true if you’re conscious about making a change in your life. The sad fact is you some relationships have to be sacrifice in order for you to grow as a person.
~You are 100% responsible- it’s completely true. You are responsible for both the good and bad things that happen in your life. So if you want to make it better, then it’s up to you to make it happen. This scares the shit out of me. I want to hide under a bed...accountability scares me. I try to be good about taking it, but it's HARD.
~We have two ears and one mouth as a reminder that we need to LISTEN~ I am a chatty girl, always have been. But when things are tough, or someone needs me, shutting up is nearly always the answer.
~Perspective is everything- there are a hundred ways to look at everything. If you are willing to change the way you are looking at things, you can make things better in a matter of moments.
~It's not your job to fix other people's crazy- We are all on a journey. I am thankful I have faith and an awareness to want to feel better about the world for myself, but that doesn't mean I need to make sure the people around me are grasping every lesson I am learning.
~Marriage isn't about living the fairytale- Sometimes it's the least romantic parts of marriage that have the most to teach you about yourself. My partner is my mirror on so many issues. I don't always like what I see, but the reward is in the fact we are making it work together.

I could go on and on. No, not really. But, I am going to stop now and enjoy the rest of the beautiful day in Kauai!

Travel Day

I have been in an airport or on a plane all day.

It's the day after election day...kind of a bummer bunch of results.

And then to top it off...
while at SEA-TAC, a man approached our table and asked if he could take our trash, I said I was going to recycle it, and he said, "Not today, it's Republicans now, only Democrats recycle." Um, wow.

Hawaii

We are leaving for Hawaii tomorrow!

It takes a whole lotta planning to leave my babies for a week. Thankfully Grandma and Frank (as Fara has started refering to them) are coming to stay. It's so nice to know the kids will be well cared for and they get to stay in their routine.
Tonight they are staying with my friend, Di. Our plane leaves super early and I felt like it would less complicated to have them stay with a friend. Again, I am so thankful to have great friends in my village.
Ack!! Still so much to do! And I want to Bunco tonight.
